A playful snow leopard keeps itself occupied in it's open air enclosure by chasing it's tail. When I first moved to Colorado in 1993 the big cats were displayed in barren, barred cages, and they would pace back and forth on the concrete ground until the pads on their feet would bleed. I recall crying at the sight of the bloody tracks. The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo has made tremendous improvements since then and boasts some of the most spectacular open air exhibits that provide a natural habitat for the animals and an interactive experience for the visitors.
