Prairie Crocus

The Rocky Mountains are slowly but surely waking up from hibernation. One sign that spring is really here is the deceptively hearty 'pasque flower', or 'prairie crocus'. It is one of the first wild flowers to bloom in the spring, protected from late snows by the tiny insulating hairs that cover it.
