My oldest daughter is right at that age where she is torn between being a little girl and a young woman. She is at home in the mountains, but hears the call of the mall. On this day her attention to the beauty around her was divided by her yearning to get back home to the computer and chat online with her 'friend'. (saturation and 20% edge smoothing used here to soften the image)

@Lydia: Thank you. The lighting, which is a favorite of mine, is from a very quickly setting sun. It looks so warm, but in actuality this was taken in February and there are deep snow drifts against the fence to the left of where this picture was taken.

@Rui Borges: Yes, my children are Hopi and Maricopa from their father's side. I have a tiny bit of Mesquakie blood... not enough to be registered, but I tell folks because I've married a Native American that I am 'Indian by injection'.
Lovely girl, very nice capture. My daughter is getting to that point to so I can sympathize with you! It is hard to let go.

What a beaufitul portrait! The warm ilght on her face is great. Did you do anything special to achieve the soft look?

@Ken McCoy: I softened the picture with a 20% edge smoother. The original picture was nicely focused but I felt the lines from all of the grass was too harsh for the overall feeling I was trying to achieve here.
This is a really nice shot. Is she your daughter? I love the peace in her eyes.
