One of the many traditional dancers at the 2011 Denver March Pow Wow.
Items used in creating these nearly period-correct regalia include eagle feathers, deer tail hair and dew claws, porquepine hair and quills, deer and/or elk sinew, buckskin, horsehair, deer bone, abalone shell, flicker feathers, and brass. Modern materials are used sparingly and in a manner in which they blend in. The dances, the songs and the heart and soul are as ancient as the prairies that inspire them.
